SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — When the GMA presents a collaboration award to the FMI's chairman, you'd expect to hear the recipient underscore the importance of working together.
The audience of some 400 leaders here at the GMA Chairman's Dinner wasn't disappointed. Fred Morganthall, FMI chairman and president and COO of Harris Teeter, the recipient of GMA's Industry Collaboration Leadership Award, addressed the topic of partnering head-on.
"Collaboration is a requirement," he said of the relationship between FMI and GMA. "We can't find solutions to problems ranging from government to food safety without working together."

The award recognizes a leader who has demonstrated excellence in fostering collaboration among trading partners and programs throughout their career to better serve the consumer, according to GMA.
