Forty-five employees will lose jobs as the grocery giant, which now owns Safeway, shifts production to Clackamas, Ore.,
About 45 employees of a Safeway production bakery in Bellevue will lose their jobs at the end of February.
Boise-based Albertsons, which bought Safeway last year, plans to consolidate operations from the Bellevue plant to another plant in Clackamas, Ore.
“This was a difficult decision made after long and careful deliberation,” said Sara Osborne, a company spokesperson. “We evaluated the volume of work and believe that moving production to the Clackamas plant will allow us to run a more efficient operation.”
Albertsons is working with the employees affected by the closure and encouraging them to apply for other positions.

The move will not affect store operations or other manufacturing plants in Washington, the company said.
