Aldi to Open in Inland Empire, Hiring 50 Shift Managers

The grocery chain is planning to open 45 stores in Southern California in 2016, including 11 in the Inland Empire.

Aldi, the German grocery story chain, is coming to the Inland Empire next and is hosting a job fair Friday and Monday to staff those stores

The chain, known for its no-frills, basement bargain prices shopping experience will be opening 11 stores in in the Inland Empire and is looking for 40 shift managers.

The pay starts at $18 an hour and goes up to $23 an hour, according to the company.

Aldi hiring managers will meet with job seekers at the Riverside Marriott Convention Center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and at the Embassy Suites in Palm Desert form 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.

Applicants must be at least 18 years or older, hold a high school diploma or GED, be able to lift 45 pounds and has some retail experience. They must be able to work between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. Monday through Sunday and pass a drug test.

Between March and July 2016, Aldi plans to open stores in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Beaumont, Redlands, Yucaipa, Highland, Menifee, Moreno Valley, Lake Elsinore and Fontana.

Employees will average 33-40 hours each week and will be eligible for full benefits, including health insurance and dental coverage.

Aldi operates more than 8,000 stores worldwide and more than 1,400 stores in 32 states in the U.S., primarily from Kansas to the East Coast.
