WAYNE, N.J. -- Grand Union Co. here said last week it expects to increase square footage by 600,000 square feet, or 10%, over the next 12 months. J. Wayne Harris, chairman and chief executive officer, said the company plans to open 16 to 18 new stores and complete 20 remodelings during that period, at a cost of $100 million, most of which will be financed from internal cash flow.
