isconsin Milk Marketing Board here is churning out a "championship cheese campaign" starring two-time National Football League Most Valuable Player Brett Favre of the Green Bay Packers.

Favre appears on a poster touting award-winning cheeses from the 1997 U.S. Championship Cheese Contest. The limited-edition poster measures 18 inches by 24 inches and is available only in Wisconsin supermarkets.

The "Champions Green Bay Packers & Wisconsin Cheese" poster will be free to customers purchasing at least 2 pounds of Wisconsin cheese. The Milk Board officials expect the 500,000 posters to run out quickly.

CAMPAIGN BEEFS UP BEEF

CHICAGO -- The National Cattlemen's Beef Association here has launched a national TV advertising campaign based on the tag line, "Beef. It's What You Want."

Four 30-second ad spots will air nationwide on prime-time, daytime, early morning syndication, cable network and sports programming. The "Beef. It's What You Want" campaign will run until September 1998.

TABASCO TO HEAT UP NASCAR EVENT

INDIANAPOLIS -- McIlhenny Co. here has announced a partnership between Tabasco brand Pepper Sauce and the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing to celebrate NASCAR's 50th Anniversary.

Team Tabasco will make its tournament debut at the UAW/GM Teamwork 500 in Charlotte, N.C., Oct. 5.

McIlhenny will participate in a yearlong promotional campaign beginning in January 1998 with the official Tabasco/NASCAR 50th Anniversary Cookbook.

SNAP AND CRACKLE TO SEEK MILK

BERKELEY, Calif. -- The California Milk Processor Board here announced a fall outdoor advertising campaign that will involve three familiar breakfast-table personalities: Snap! Crackle! and Pop! of Kellogg's Rice Krispies fame.

The characters, who have accompanied hungry consumers for more than 60 years, will appear on billboards nationwide this fall, with the familiar tag line, "Got Milk?"

PEPPERIDGE PLAYS GO FISH

NORWALK, Conn. -- Pepperidge Farm here has launched a back-to-school promotion for its new "Smiley" Goldfish Crackers. Specially marked packages along with in-store displays will help draw attention to this fish with a smile.

Tear pads on Pepperidge Farm's Back-to-School Schoolhouse display will offer consumers information about a film offer and photo contest. The full-end exhibit holds 13 cases of 6-ounce Goldfish packages and five cases of Goldfish on the Go packages.

Pepperidge Farm is creating awareness with a national TV campaign featuring the jingle, "I love fishes 'cause they're so delicious."
