MONTEREY, Calif. -- The American Frozen Food Institute, McLean, Va., will hold its annual Western Frozen Food Convention here Feb. 24 to 28.

. Monday's roundtable discussion will focus on labor issues. Tuesday's roundtables will deal with the Uniform Commercial Code's effect on advertising and the latest water issues affecting frozen foods.

The keynote speaker will be Charlie Plumb, a former prisoner of war, now a nationally known motivational speaker. Plumb will discuss the value of inner strength vs. adversity.

As is customary, most of the activity at AFFI Western will take place in private settings.

"It's what a convention used to be about," said Steven C. Anderson, AFFI's president and chief executive officer. "It's where people actually come in and get a heck of a lot of business done in a very short period of time. We have people who write their orders for the whole year at this meeting."

Retailers, he said, are a key part of the convention. "There's a lot of activity there in the private-label arena that helps the retailers find real value in AFFI's convention."
