CHICAGO -- Albertson's, Boise, Idaho, was honored here last week with the third annual Industry Partnership Award from the Food Industry Crusade Against Hunger in recognition of its commitment to fighting hunger in the United States.

It was accepted by Peter Lynch, Albertson's president and chief operating officer, who said, "Hunger relief is our No. 1 charitable initiative throughout the year, and we are constantly looking for new ways to cook up a healthy menu for America's hungry."

According to FICAH, Albertson's stores have raised more than $7.6 million since 1987 for the Food for All program to create grants for local anti-hunger agencies. This year Albertson's will fund more than 200 programs on the local community level, FICAH pointed out.
