PHOENIX -- Alliant Foodservice, Deerfield, Ill., plans to expand its existing warehouse facility here to 300,000 square feet, nearly double the building's current size.

"We need to expand to support the needs of our growing customer base, to increase product offerings, and to continue our service-level improvements," said Mike Brown, market president for Alliant-Arizona.

The project is scheduled for completion in mid-1999. Alliant, one of the nation's largest broadline food-service distributors, with approximately 200,000 customers, has recently completed expansion projects in Atlanta, and Topeka, Kan.

In another expansion move, the distributor has opened a new $15 million distribution center in Woolrich Townwhip, N.J., nearly doubling the size of its former facility, to 200,000 square feet.

The center will service central and southern New Jersey, the greater Philadelphia area, and parts of Delaware and Maryland.

New Jersey is home to another large Alliant distribution depot, in North Bergen, servicing the metro New York market, including New York City and Long Island.
