BOULDER, Colo. -- The rejuvenated American Pie Council has launched a newsletter -- called Pie Times -- established a web page and is sponsoring the Third Annual National Pie Championships, Jan. 18 to 19, 1997, in Boulder, Colo., according to executive director John Lehndorff.

The American Pie Council is a not-for-profit association established to promote pie baking and eating. The group is in the middle of a membership drive for both home bakers and commercial interests involved in the pie business, from equipment manufacturers to professional bakers, said Lehndorff.
The group was established in the early 1980s as a loose collection of pie enthusiasts, Lehndorff said. Lehndorff and other pie lovers assembled in early 1996 to recreate the organization. They incorporated the APC in mid-1996.
