ribution facility," although the timing and scope of that project will not be disclosed until the conclusion of the ISC study.

However, reports in the media that serve the area of Acme Markets, American's division based in Malvern, Pa., said the company plans to build a distribution center of 1.4 million square feet on the 150-acre site that will combine perishables and dry groceries under one roof, plus a recycling center and truck-maintenance department.

Media reports said the new warehouse would replace two separate distribution facilities in the Philadelphia area, although an American spokesman told SN last week it would be up to ISC to determine how those facilities would be used.

ISC Consulting is a member company of Tibbett & Britten Group, a London-based company that provides specialized distribution and supply-chain management services in 22 countries. Its North American headquarters are in Toronto.

According to Ed McManus, chief operating officer for procurement and logistics at American Stores, "Tibbett & Britten Group will work with us in developing our ongoing supply-chain initiatives, including continuous replenishment, vendor-managed inventory, inbound and outbound consolidation, as well as facility utilization and productivity.
