ENCINO, Calif. -- In an unanimous vote, the board of directors of the Video Software Dealers Association here has named Crossan "Bo" Andersen president, succeeding Jeffrey P. Eves.

dues-paying members, Eves stepped down in early January. Andersen, who is very popular with VSDA members, directors and staff, has been serving as acting president since the association's Regional Leaders Conference in mid-January. Andersen joined the VSDA as vice president and general counsel in 1995, and was named senior vice president and general counsel in 1997. He was responsible for the VSDA's governmental and legislative affairs, as well as the membership department.

"The board of directors is pleased to have someone with Bo's combination of talent, experience and integrity to lead VSDA into the future," said Mark Vrieling, board chairman and owner of Rain City Video in Seattle. "Since joining VSDA in 1995, Bo has built a stellar record of performance that includes numerous legislative victories. In supervising VSDA's membership department, Bo has shown an acute sensitivity to the great challenges currently facing VSDA's smaller retailer members."

Andersen also managed the VSDA's Independent Retailer Advisory Group and, working with the group, commissioned the copy-depth study from Mars & Co., San Francisco. Before joining the VSDA, Andersen was the anti-piracy legal director for the Motion Picture Association of America, Washington, and before that was an assistant United States attorney in Los Angeles.

"Bo clearly possesses in-depth knowledge of the many complex factors now impacting the association's membership and the board is confident that he will be an effective and innovative leader," Vrieling said.
