CLEVELAND -- Funeral services have been held here for Anthony (Tony) Rini, who died at the age of 90.
away Foods (a group of independent wholesalers) in 1988 to form Riser Foods. His nephew, Charles Rini, is president and chief operating officer of Riser.
Rini and two brothers entered the grocery business with a small produce store here in the 1920s; they opened the first Rini supermarket in 1957, with Tony Rini serving as produce buyer.
Rini's had 11 stores at the time of the merger.
Tony Rini served as a director of Riser until his death and was also chairman of Rini Realty Co., a family-owned partnership here.
Rini, a widower, is survived by a sister and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
