McLEAN, Va. -- Movement of U.S. apples out of storage to market is strong this spring, according to the International Apple Institute here.
of total fresh apple holdings was 13.2 million bushels, down slightly from 1993 levels, but 12% greater than the five-year average.
According to the institute, quality problems in the 1992-93 season resulted in heavy movement early in that season. The 1993-94 crop has been of "very high quality," the institute said.
