KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Associated Wholesale Grocers here said Fred and JoAnn Ball were named the first recipients of the Lou Fox Community Service Award in recognition of their commitment to giving back to the Kansas City community.
at AWG's annual shareholders meeting last month, was named for former company president Lou Fox. Fox was regarded within the Kansas City community as a philanthropist and civic supporter. He earned the Prime Minister's Medal from the State of Israel, in addition to numerous food-industry awards in the course of his career. The Balls support an annual charity golf fund-raiser called "Day of Fun with a Purpose," and they also are involved with the KVC Behavioral Health Center, among other community activities and organizations.
