Cool Chain Quality Indicators (CCQI), a year-old standard developed by two European groups, aim to help retailers and manufacturers evaluate third-party cold chain providers.

"It is the aim of the CCA to make the CCQI standard a part of the selection criteria for retailers and brand-owners to find their supply chain providers," said CCA (www.coolchain.org) in a statement.
CCQI comprises mandatory requirements and points-based benchmarking. Companies will be rated for staff training, operability of refrigeration equipment, handling procedures and transport unit maintenance.
