MAULDIN, S.C. -- Bi-Lo recently promoted salad fixings, along with a cross-promotion for a salad bowl.
he ad tied in to a reward program for Pyrex dishes that Bi-Lo was also running. According to the ad, a 4.5-quart salad bowl with a plastic cover was $6.77, with 10 reward points.
Shoppers earned one reward point for each $5 in purchases, the ad stated.
A head of iceberg lettuce was promoted for 98 cents, a 26-ounce package of slicing tomatoes was $1.78, Hass avocados were 98 cents each, an 8-ounce package of snow white mushrooms retailed for 98 cents and a 1-pound bag of carrots was two for 98 cents. Red, green leaf and romaine lettuce were also on special.
"Walter" is the fictional produce spokesman that Bi-Lo's parent company, Parsippany, N.J.-based Ahold USA, utilizes in several of its divisions.
