are the five alcoholic beverage brands that enjoy the highest brand awareness in North America, according to the Brand Institute's first-quarter 2001 report that tracks the market for alcoholic beverage brands.
Budweiser led the list, with 24.7% of respondents listing it as the first alcoholic beverage brand that comes to mind. Coors, Miller, Seagrams and Bacardi received 7.05%, 5.95%, 4.1% and 3.71%, respectively.
The report -- The 10 Most Recognized Alcoholic Beverage Brands in North America (January-March 2001) -- is based on findings from an Internet survey of more than 2,000 respondents in North America. The study focuses on brand recall and brand perceptions across a wide range of alcoholic beverage brands.
As the markets for these types of products converge, brands that are well-known consumer alcoholic beverage brands are usually at an advantage, according to Brand Institute, Miami, a consulting firm. Experience has shown that familiar brands are the first ones consumers think of when faced with a purchase decision.
