Food Emporium reopened its historic Bridgemarket location in New York Nov. 17, unveiling a new gourmet concept created by noted European food merchandiser Hans Heer. The store fuses neighborhood shopping needs with an array of imported specialty goods and departments beneath a uniquely shaped tile ceiling forming the arch of the Queensboro Bridge. Features of the new store include a charcuterie for curing hams, specialty displays for cheeses, desserts, chocolates and prepared items; a newly installed mezzanine selling kitchenware; and merchandising displays that draw inspiration from art galleries and specialty fashion retailers.
