Broiler production for the first quarter increased 7% over last year, and broiler meat production in April was about 16% higher than in 1995, the report said. A 4% to 5% increase was predicted for the second quarter, with total production for the year weighing in about 6% higher than in 1995.

Turkey production increased by 6% in the first quarter but is expected to grow by only 2% in the second quarter, with the total year's production estimated at approximately 5% over 1995.
