LUFKIN, Texas -- Brookshire Bros. here kicked off the New Year with a "quarterback snack," a submarine sandwich on a whole loaf of fresh french bread from the bakery.
deli and bakery for the 63-unit chain. "The director of one of our smaller stores called to tell me he had no french bread to sell in the bakery, because it had all gone to the deli for the sandwiches. That one little deli sold more than 100 over New Year's weekend," Weiser said.
"They've been selling well at all our stores, and remember, those are additional sales," he said. The cooperative effort between the bakery and deli in each store whipped up enthusiasm among associates in both departments, Weiser said.
