LANGHORNE, Pa. -- Super G has introduced a coffee kiosk in Center Store, according to Bucks County Coffee here.

The kiosk, which consists of oak fixtures, features packaged and bulk Bucks coffee, is usually merchandised as an end-aisle display.

Super G has the kiosk in four stores, said Julie York, who handles marketing for Bucks. In one of its stores, the display is located across from a department where fresh Bucks coffee is served.

"It's a wonderful location for us. Consumers who try our fresh coffee can turn around and buy some to take home," York said. Officials from Super G, operated by Giant Food, Landover, Md., were unavailable for comment.

Along with Super G, Clemens Markets, Kulpsville, Pa.; Acme Markets, Malvern, Pa.; and McCaffrey's, Yardley, Pa., have already debuted or plan to debut the kiosk in some units. Due to space constraints, several of the aforementioned retailers are merchandising Bucks coffee selections in-line.

In other news, Bucks has introduced a new vacuum-sealed package that features graphics, as well as brewing and handling tips. The package is constructed from four layers of laminated film and a one-way valve that allows the coffee to "de-gas."

Bucks coffee sells for $9.95 in bulk, $1.79 for a 2-ounce package and $8 for 12 ounces.

Up until recently, Bucks coffee was sold only in other outlets, including coffee houses and train stations. "The supermarket shopper is a whole new customer for us," York said.
