Drug store purchases of ice cream and non-dairy alternatives showed sales gains of 8.7% to $125.7 million during the 52-week time frame. Sales also grew during the preceding two calendar-year periods: The drug channel posted nearly a 10% sales increase in 2003, and a 12.4% spike in 2002. Drug stores remain the only channel to post gains at all with regard to ice cream and sherbet.
