A flat 2002 was followed by a 1.3% decline in dollar sales and a 3.3% decline in unit volume during calendar year 2003.

The category has fared much better in convenience-oriented outlets, such as the drug channel, where sales of the products have grown 12% in the latest 52 weeks to reach almost $4.5 million in sales.
