ds and varieties, including the drinkable kind. The huge assortment and healthy image make it a strong seller. Sales continued to increase, most notably in the drug store channel. For the 52 weeks that ended June 13, refrigerated yogurt sales in the food, drug and mass channels grew 6.1% to $2.69 billion. Drug store sales, though small, shot up 22.4%, to nearly $4.8 million, over that same time period. Supermarkets, the top channel for yogurt, saw volume increase 5.9%, to $2.67 billion.

The growth follows two previous years of modest sales increases in all channels. For the year ended Dec. 28, 2003, yogurt sales went up 7.3%, to $2.62 billion, in the food, drug and mass channels, vs. the previous calendar year's growth of 8.1%, to $2.44 billion. Drug stores enjoyed a whopping 59.5% increase in sales, to $3.77 million, for the year ending Dec. 29, 2002.
