An SN article earlier this year stated that $1.2 million was recovered following the breakup of a counterfeit coupon scheme perpetrated by top executives of a supermarket chain, which was incorrectly identified as Sloan's Associated Food Stores. That company was not involved in any way in the coupon scheme. In fact, guilty pleas to conspiracy relating to the scheme were entered in 1993 by top executives of an unrelated company, Sloan's Supermarkets, N.Y. Sloan's Supermarkets, N.Y., was sold in 1992 to Red Apple Cos., N.Y., which was not involved in the coupon scheme.
