CHICAGO -- The present and future of supermarket technology was demonstrated during the Food Marketing Institute's big show here this month in a special pavilion called "SuperTechMart." Put together with the help of Strategy Partners Group, Point Vedra Beach, Fla., seven sponsoring companies and 14 other firms that contributed technology products and services, the exhibit used a series of four vignettes

CHICAGO -- The present and future of supermarket technology was demonstrated during the Food Marketing Institute's big show here this month in a special pavilion called "SuperTechMart." Put together with the help of Strategy Partners Group, Point Vedra Beach, Fla., seven sponsoring companies and 14 other firms that contributed technology products and services, the exhibit used a series of four vignettes to showcase solutions that are available today. Limited to 55 to 60 people per tour and three tours per hour, about 2,800 to 3,000 people visited SuperTechMart during its three-day run; most were retail executives.
