CHICAGO -- The organizers of two international trade fairs have explained plans to cooperate in a single trade fair for international food technology, which will have its premiere at the exhibition center in Cologne, Germany, Nov. 5 through 9, 1996. The merging of DLG FoodTec, previously held in Frankfurt, and Anuga-Technica, until now an integral part of Anuga World Food Market, will result in Anuga FoodTec International Food Technology Fair, organized jointly by the German Agricultural Society, Frankfurt, and KolnMesse (Cologne Trade Fairs and Exhibitions Corp.), Cologne. "The Anuga-Technica was the technological side of Anuga, the world leader among food fairs." said Egbert Conze, general manager of the Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft, or German Agricultural Society. "It concentrated mainly on meat, fruit and vegetable processing. It also extensively covered refrigeration equipment." The DLG FoodTec was recognized as the top-ranked fair for liquid and viscous foodstuffs. Its counterpart in the United States was the MegaShow, Conze said.
"Anuga FoodTec brings together the product ranges of the former DLG FoodTec, the international trade exhibition for dairy and food technology, and the previous Anuga-Technica, the food technology section of Anuga, the worlds' largest food fair," said Frank Hartmann, department head of Cologne Trade Fairs & Exhibitions Corp., Cologne. Hartmann and Conze spoke at a press conference held here during MegaShow, sponsored by the Food Processing Machinery & Supplies Association, Alexandria, Va., and Dairy & Food Industries Supply Association, McLean, Va.
"In addition to the many suppliers present at the former Anuga-Technica and DLG FoodTec, numerous companies that were previously not represented at either of the two fairs have also announced their participation," Hartmann said.
Anuga FoodTec will present process technology, dosage, filling and packaging systems, aseptic systems, refrigeration technology, ingredients, additives, process auxiliary materials, starter cultures, factory hygiene, operating materials, transport vehicles, factory logistics, quality assurance and services for various industries including dairy, deli, soup and sauce, fruit juice, canned foods, baby foods, oil/fat/margarine, ice cream, confectionery, baked goods, noodles, frozen foods, ready meals (prepared foods), and the processing of meat/poultry/fish, and coffee/tea.
