WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. -- Citing strong earnings from its vegetable and banana operations, Dole Food Co. here reported net income was up for the second quarter of 1995, compared with the second quarter of 1994.

"Our food operations posted strong results for the quarter over the prior year," said David H. Murdock, chairman and chief executive officer. "We reported particularly strong earnings from our vegetable and banana operations. "The successful completion of the sale of Dole's worldwide juice business resulted in a gain and substantial cash proceeds for the company," he said.
