MUNCIE, Ind. -- Donald M. Rix Sr., retired president of the Lo Bill division of Marsh Supermarkets, died at Ball Memorial Hospital here on Feb. 7, following a sudden illness. He was 66.

supervisor, director of merchandising, vice president of merchandising and vice president of new format development. In 1992, he was named president and chief operating officer of Marsh's Lo Bill division. He retired from the company in 1994.

During his career, Rix was active in several trade groups, including the Food Marketing Institute, the National Frozen Food Association, the Indiana Cattlemens Association and Indiana Pork Producers. He was also a charter member of the Progressive Grocers Association.

Rix was born in Blufton, Ind., and graduated from Marion High School, Marion, Ind. and Ball State University in Muncie. He also served in the U.S. Army.

Rix is survived by his wife, Lenora Rix; a son, Donald Rix Jr.; two daughters, Carol Wheadon and Tammy Rix; two stepsons, Gene Perry and Kirk Horner; his mother, Pauline Rix; two brothers, Rodger and Lewis; a sister, Evelyn Wortman, and nine grandchildren.
