PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- LifeSavers has released New Breath Savers Cool Blasts mini-mints, sold in a blue plastic credit card package, which holds 50 mints for the suggested retail price of $1.49.
Breath Savers Cool Blasts are now available in supermarkets, drug stores, mass merchandisers, convenience stores and club stores nationwide.
The recent rollout was supported with television and print advertising, 13 million targeted free samples, and a national coupon drop.

'Functional' Line From Hawaiian
HONOLULU -- Hawaiian Vintage Chocolate Co., here, a provider of gourmet chocolate in America, recently introduced a new generation of chocolate. Designed to use the natural health qualities and neurochemicals of the cocoa bean to enhance the consumer's pleasure of eating chocolate, the company is referring to the product as "functional chocolates."
The company released the "Love Truffle" during Valentine's Day, which includes extra PEA, a precursor to improved mood from increased endorphin production. Additional products in the line will be enhanced chocolates to address PMS, happiness, energy, intelligence and healthy hearts, according to Hawaiian Vintage Chocolate's president James Walsh.
"We are heartened by the recent scientific studies that demonstrate the functional and health-related qualities of chocolate," he said in a press release. (See related story, Page 94.)
