NEW YORK -- Duane Reade is keeping an eye on business migrations here in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and is altering its expansion plans accordingly, the company told investors and analysts at the Credit Suisse First Boston Food and Drug Retail conference here Feb. 6.
Anthony Cuti, chairman, president and chief executive officer, said the company has been monitoring where displaced corporations have set up temporary offices and will continue to do so as they choose permanent office space.
He told attendees that Duane Reade, which is the No. 1 drug chain in New York, will continue to pursue expansion in the metro area.
Growth plans will focus on uptown Manhattan above Central Park and the lower downtown areas, along with the heavily populated neighborhoods of Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx.
