DUSSELDORF, Germany -- The Central Association of the German Bakery Trade and the IBA have scheduled IBA '98, the giant international bakery show here, for May 8 to 14, 1998.

es, bakery and confectionery machines, storage and refrigeration systems, baking ingredients and additives, energy-saving systems, control technology systems, computer applications, convenience products, fixtures and advertising and packaging materials will be on display at the 230,000-square-foot show floor, spread over 10 halls at the Dusseldorf Trade Fair Center.

In 1995, IBA hosted 886 exhibitors from 29 countries and 95,000 visitors from 127 countries.

Competition from other major European bakery trade shows will not affect attendance at IBA '98, show organizers predicted, due to an agreement under which Europain, another major European bakery show, will take place in 1999.

IBA '98 will be the 17th international bakery trade fair since 1945, and the fifth held in Dusseldorf.

The day before IBA '98 begins, the International Baking Technology Symposium will be held on the same site.

Show organizers will provide interpreters for exhibitors at the multinational fair.
