MILAN, Ill. -- Eagle Food Centers here said last week it has obtained approval in U.S. Bankruptcy Court to pay the remaining prepetition claims of its trade creditors.

Eagle filed a bankruptcy petition in late February for a strategic restructuring under a voluntary, pre-arranged Chapter 11. The filing came six weeks before April 15, when when $100 million of the company's senior notes matured.
The court has scheduled a hearing for April 17 to approve Eagle's disclosure statement and a hearing on May 17 to confirm the company's plan of reorganization.
