SALT LAKE CITY -- The former national product manager for American Stores Co. here is suing the company for $3 million, claiming his boss violated antidiscrimination laws by calling him a "fat slob."

Dan Zvonek, director of public relations for American Stores, denied the allegations in the lawsuit, saying, "American Stores made every reasonable effort to accommodate Mr. Roberts and gave him the opportunity to return to work under a different supervisor."
