Ukrop's Adds VP Position

op's Super Markets here has made a series of executive-level changes in its corporate organizational structure.

Kevin Hade has been named to the new position of vice president of category management. With Ukrop's since 1984, Hade was most recently vice president of manufacturing. Hade's new position was created as a means for all category managers to operate under one leadership umbrella. He reports directly to company president and chief executive officer, Bobby Ukrop.

Al Oliver has stepped into the new position of director of perishables. Oliver first joined Ukrop's in 1977 as category manager of produce. He reports to Hade.

Also reporting to Hade is Janell Schleeper, who has been named category manager for bakery. With the company since 1993, Schleeper was marketing manager for Ukrop's Food Group. She succeeds Katie Rosenfeld, who was named manager of customer category information and e-commerce solutions.

Ukrop's, an independent retailer, operates 26 stores in the state.

Evans Fruit Grows Sales Staff

COWICHE, Wash. -- In a move to expand marketing efforts, Evans Fruit Inc. here has added three sales people to its staff.

Raised in the fruit industry, Roger Case comes to the company from Majestic Valley Produce of Wanatchee, Wash. Prior to his 20-year sales career, Case was a Washington-based grower of Northwest apples, pears, cherries and soft fruit.

Stephen Ball brings more than 15 years of agribusiness experience to Evans. Having held a variety of sales and management positions, Ball's most recent employer was also Majestic Valley Produce.

Like Case, Wesley Akiyama also grew up in the fruit business. He began his 15-year produce career with SoFresh of Fresno, Calif., where he was most recently assistant vice president.

All three new sales people will report to DiAnne Conrad, sales manager.

Evans Fruit is an independently owned apple grower/packer/shipper. It grows most major apple varieties including Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Gala, Fuji and Braeburn apples.
