Wakefern Taps Pharmacy VP
efern Food Corp. here has named Dan Ramirez vice president of the pharmacy division, a new position.
Ramirez was director of pharmacy and is a member of the Food Marketing Institute Pharmacy Services Committee. Wakefern is a retailer-owned cooperative and the wholesale distribution and merchandising arm for ShopRite Supermarkets, Edison, N.J.
Tambrands Names Marketing VP
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Tambrands here appointed Jaclyn K. Flatow vice president of marketing for North America.
Flatow was most recently vice president of sales and marketing at Direct Co., Monroe, Conn., a music distributor. At Tambrands, Flatow is responsible for all advertising, promotions and other marketing activities in the United States and Canada and reports to Michael Lorelli, president of Tambrands, North America.
Flatow, who worked for tampon manufacturer Playtex Family Products in the mid-1980s, succeeds Janey Loyd, who was named vice president of business development at Tambrands.
Miles Appoints Unit President
PITTSBURGH -- Miles Inc. here has named Gary S. Balkema executive vice president and president of its newly formed Consumer Care division, effective Jan. 1, 1995. He will also become a member of the Miles executive committee.
Balkema, formerly head of American Cyanamid's Lederle Consumer Health division, Wayne, N.J., has nearly 18 years experience in the consumer products business, having joined American Cyanamid in 1977.
Miles had previously announced the Consumer Care division would be located in the metropolitan New York area, but an exact location has not been determined. Until the new division headquarters are opened, Balkema's office will be in New York.
American Home Elects Senior VP
MADISON, N.J. -- Roger G. Berlin, M.D., was appointed senior vice president of scientific affairs for the Whitehall-Robins Healthcare division of American Home Products here.
Berlin has responsibility for all analytical and clinical research undertaken by the company in the area of nonprescription drugs and oversees all regulatory and medical affairs. He succeeds Barry Dash, M.D., who was appointed to the new position of senior vice president of advanced technologies.
Berlin was executive director for clinical research at Merck & Co., Rahway, N.J.
Ciba Taps VP of Marketing
DULUTH, Ga. -- Steve Wilkin has been named to the new position of vice president of sales and marketing at Ciba Vision Optics here.
