Winn-Dixie Shifts 3 Executives

-Dixie Stores here has changed the positions of three executives in its marketing and public relations departments.

Bruce C. Baxter, who was marketing director for the company's Jacksonville, Fla., division, has been named corporate director of marketing. This is a new position that includes advertising responsibilities formerly held by G.E. "Mickey" Clerc Jr. Clerc has been named vice president and director of public relations, a new position. Clerc, who was vice president and director of advertising, will direct all phases of public relations for Winn-Dixie, the nation's fifth-largest retailer.

Clerc, who has been with the retailer for 33 years, and Baxter, who has been with the company 31 years, both report to C.H. McKellar, executive vice president.

Bill Tyjewski, formerly advertising manager at Winn-Dixie Jacksonville, succeeds Baxter as marketing director of Winn-Dixie Jacksonville. He is responsible for all advertising and public relations for the chain's stores in north Florida and south Georgia. Tyjewski reports to Bill Calkins, president of the Jacksonville division. No successor has been named to Tyjewski's former position.

Supervalu Names Marketing VP

MINNEAPOLIS -- Supervalu here has named William J. Overman vice president of marketing at its Reading, Pa., division. This is a new position.

Overman had been director of Supervalu University, which offers training programs for supermarket owners, managers and employees, since 1990. He also has held a variety of positions in four Supervalu operating divisions since joining the distributor's former Green Bay, Wis., division as a retail counselor in 1979.

In his new position, Overman reports to Thomas A. Kwasny, president of the Reading division.

A. James Duban, formerly first vice president of Wetterau support services group, has succeeded Overman as director of Supervalu University. No successor will be named to Duban's previous position.

Duban reports to Mike Mulligan, vice president of sales.

Big V Taps Director

Of Labor Relations FLORIDA, N.Y. -- Big V Supermarkets here named George Clayton director of labor relations, a new position.

Clayton was manager of labor relations. In his new position, he will be responsible for coordinating and managing a positive, collaborative relationship with all union leadership. He will have the lead role in labor negotiations and contract administration.

Clayton, who has 24 years of industry experience, reports to Tom Hoskison, vice president of human resources.

Big V operates 28 ShopRite supermarkets, primarily in the Hudson Valley region of New York. It also operates a Big V Market here and the PriceRite Warehouse Club in Fishkill, N.Y.

The company is a member of Wakefern Food Corp., a wholesale cooperative based in Elizabeth, N.J.

Richfood Adds Two Directors

RICHMOND, Va. -- Richfood here has named two new directors, expanding its board from nine to 11 members.

Grace E. Harris and Roger L. Gregory were elected to the wholesaler's board at a recent quarterly meeting.

Harris is provost and vice president for academic affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University, where she has held a variety of faculty and administrative posts since joining the School of Social Work in 1967.

Gregory is a co-founder and managing partner of the Richmond, Va., law firm of Wilder & Gregory. He concentrates on civil and corporate litigation.

Richfood is the largest wholesale food distributor in the Mid-Atlantic region, supplying about 750 retail supermarkets.
