Held Joins Marsh in New Post

Previously, Held was manager of bakery merchandising and procurement for three years at 140-unit Harris Teeter, Charlotte, N.C. Prior to that, he was a bakery supervisor at Penn Traffic Co., Syracuse, N.Y. In his new post, he reports to Gianfranco DiCarlo, vice president of deli-bakery-food service at 79-unit Marsh.

Byerly's Adds Pastry Chef Slot

MINNEAPOLIS -- Byerly's Fine Foods here has named Paul Supplee executive pastry chef, a newly created position.

Supplee has been with Byerly's 11 years. His most recent title was European pastry chef. Prior to joining the company, he had held pastry chef positions with top hotels, including executive pastry chef at Kahler Hotel, Rochester, Minn. In his new post, Supplee reports to Keith Kersten, vice president of perishable operations for the 12-unit chain.

Harvest Taps Ruple for Post

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Harvest Foods here has named Jeff Ruple as director of deli and bakery.

Ruple was previously director of bakery and takes the responsibilities of Kathy McDade, deli director, who left the company.

Ruple, who joined the company at store level 15 years ago, was appointed manager of one of the 52-unit chain's in-store bakeries at the age of 18. Later, he was a bakery field merchandiser. In his new post, he reports to Ray Rollison, director of perishables.

Kerry Names Division President

BELOIT, Wis. -- Kerry Ingredients here has named Tom H. Daniel president of its Baker's Aid division, which is headquartered in Syosset, N.Y.

Daniel has been with the company since 1984 and was most recently executive vice president.

The position of president has been open since Baker's Aid was purchased by DCA Bakery, Fenton, Mo., in January 1994. (Kerry Ingredients has since purchased both DCA Bakery and Baker's Aid). Daniel's former position will remain open until an evaluation of staff and structure is completed, a Kerry spokesman said. Daniel reports to Randy McIntyre, senior vice president of sales and marketing.
