KMART PROMOTES MCDONALD TO CFO

TROY, Mich. -- Kmart Corp. here said it has promoted John R. McDonald to executive vice president and chief financial officer. He succeeds Jeffrey Boyer, who joined the company as CFO in May. Previously, McDonald was senior vice president, finance, and treasurer.

BURKLE JOINS YAHOO! BOARD

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Yahoo! here said last week it has named to its board Ron Burkle, founder of Yucaipa Cos., Los Angeles, an investment firm with major interests in Fleming, Dallas, and Kmart Corp., Troy, Mich.

MICHAEL NAMED TO BOARD AT HARRAH'S

LAS VEGAS -- Harrah's Entertainment here said last week it has named Gary Michael, retired chairman and chief executive officer of Albertson's, Boise, Idaho, to its board.

FLEMING'S HANSEN ON AMAZON.COM BOARD

SEATTLE -- Amazon.com here said it has named to its board Mark S. Hansen, chairman and chief executive officer, Fleming, Dallas.

RIDER TO LEAD FLEMING C-STORES

DALLAS -- Fleming here said Neal J. Rider will assume additional responsibilities for the company's convenience-store distribution operations. Rider is currently the executive vice president and chief financial officer; he will retail both titles. In this new capacity, Rider will work closely with Steve Davis, Fleming's executive vice president and president, wholesale. Rider's first priority will be establishing further operational synergies and leveraging economies of scale among the chain's convenience-store divisions.
