Murray succeeds Larry Zigarelli, who recently left the company.

Publix Names FedEx-Kinko's Veteran as CIO

LAKELAND, Fla. - Laurie Zeitlin has been selected as senior vice president and chief information officer for Publix Super Markets here. Zeitlin, currently senior vice president and CIO with FedEx-Kinko's in Dallas, will join Publix Jan. 30. She will be responsible for all information technology, including budget training. Zeitlin will succeed Danny Risener, who is retiring after 43 years with the company.

Zettle to Retire as COO of Price Chopper

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - After 51 years in the grocery industry, Larry Zettle, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Price Chopper Supermarkets here, recently announced that he would retire at the end of this month. A successor has not been named. Zettle began his career at National Tea Stores in Chicago in 1954. He has served in executive positions at Eberhards Foods, Grand Rapids, Mich.; A&P, Montvale, N.J.; and Kohl's Foods, Milwaukee. Zettle joined Price Chopper Supermarkets in 1993 as executive vice president, and was also given the title of COO in 2000.

Block Joins Law Firm as Legislative Advisor

WASHINGTON - John R. Block has joined law firm Olsson, Frank & Weeda here as senior legislative advisor. Block, who most recently was executive vice president, Food Marketing Institute, also based here, and president of its wholesale division, had begun working as a consultant with the firm in 2004. He told SN he is not working in any capacity at FMI. At Olsson, Frank & Weeda, Block said he expects to provide legislative consulting services to food companies.

GMA Promotes Sibert to Group VP, Industry Affairs

WASHINGTON - The Grocery Manufacturers Association here has promoted Stephen Sibert to group vice president, industry affairs and membership, effective immediately. Sibert oversees GMA's supply chain, technology, customer collaboration and business initiatives. His new role is in addition to his previous role as vice president of membership and industry development, in which he is responsible for leading GMA's membership development. Sibert succeeds Mark Baum, who left in December and is now a partner at DiamondCluster International.
