Division President Named at Marsh
rkets here has named Ronald R. Walicki president and chief operating officer of its supermarket division, a new position.
Walicki, a longtime employee of Marsh, was executive vice president of the supermarket division. In his new position, he will oversee the operations of the company's 80 supermarkets. Walicki reports to Don E. Marsh, chairman, president and chief executive officer.
With the appointment of Walicki to this position, Marsh now has given president and chief operating officer titles to the managers of all three of its operating divisions.
Marsh previously named David M. Redden president and chief operating officer of its Village Pantry division, which includes 177 convenience stores in Indiana and Ohio, and Theodore R. Varner president and chief operating officer of the company's Convenience Store Distributing Co. CSDC supplies 1,300 unrelated stores in eight states.
Baker's Appoints Marketing Director
OMAHA, Neb. -- Baker's Supermarkets here has named John Tatreau director of marketing.
The marketing position had been vacant. Tatreau had been handling the responsibilities associated with the position as acting director of marketing on an interim basis, a Baker's spokeswoman said. Tatreau, who also had been director of grocery marketing at Baker's, will oversee all aspects of the advertising, promotion and marketing strategies of the company. He reports to the office of the president, which includes Jack Baker, president and chief executive officer, and Mike Petersen, chief operating officer. Tatreau's new assignment was part of a realignment of the grocery department, which included a change to a category-management operation.
Baker's operates 11 supermarkets in the Omaha area.
Smitty's Names Development VP
PHOENIX -- Smitty's Super Valu here has named Alastair T. Gordon vice president of store development.
Gordon assumes responsibilities previously held by Mickey McDonald, who has left the company. McDonald had the title of senior director of construction services Gordon, a registered architect, previously worked in firms specializing in supermarket design and construction. He will oversee the ongoing construction of three stores, the renovation of 20 existing stores in the next two years and the building of eight more within five years. Smitty's has budgeted $25 million for a two-year store-renovation program.
