URM STORES, SPOKANE, WASH., said Jeff Philipps has been named president and chief executive officer of Rosauers Supermarkets. He succeeds Larry Geller, who has retired. Philipps was formerly senior vice president, sales and marketing, for Rainbow Foods, Minneapolis. Rosauers, which operates 19 stores in the Pacific Northwest, was purchased by URM from the Rosauer family in 1984, sold to the chain's employees in 1990 and repurchased by URM in June.

The company said Gary Zimmerman, currently president of Supervalu's Northern region, will succeed Covington as president of Richfood.
KMART, TROY, MICH., said last week Michael Bozic, vice chairman, will leave the company effective Oct. 31. Bozic's former duties will be spread among the company's leadership team. Martin E. Welch, executive vice president and chief financial officer, will assume responsibility for supply procurement and finance, and report to Chuck Conaway, Kmart chairman and chief executive officer. Randy Allen, executive vice president, strategic planning and chief information, will lead BlueLight.com. David Rots, executive vice president, human resources and administration, will oversee the legal department. Mark Schwartz, executive vice president, store operations, will assume responsibility for facility management and construction.
The company also said it has named Michael K. Frank vice president, general merchandise manager, Super Kmart. Previously, Frank was senior vice president, merchandising, for SuperValu, Minneapolis. He will report to Mark Schwartz, executive vice president, store operations.
In addition, Kmart said it has named Mariana Keros divisional vice president, trend and product development, effective immediately. Previously, Keros was director of trend merchandising and product development for Target's Dayton Hudson department stores division. She will report to Cecil Kearse, executive vice president, merchandising.
A&P, MONTVALE, N.J., said it has named Don Sommerville senior vice president, chief marketing officer, and a member of the company's management executive committee. He succeeds Cheryl Palmer, who the company recently named president of A&P's Food Emporium division. Sommerville, who was previously president of A&P's Compass Foods division, will report to Christian Haub, A&P president and chief executive officer.
HARRY'S FARMERS MARKET, ROSWELL, GA., said last week chief financial officer John D. Branch has resigned. Branch, who held several concurrent positions within the company, including senior vice president, chief financial officer and director, said he had completed key objectives and believed it was an appropriate time "to seek other opportunities."
