Borck Is Honored By Ernst & Young

SHELTON, Conn. -- Chester E. Borck, chairman of the board of Country Home Bakers here, has been honored for management excellence by Ernst & Young, New York.

Ernst & Young, one of the "Big Six" accounting firms in the U.S., named Borck 1998 Southern New England Master Entrepreneur of the Year.

The accounting firm began its award program in 1986 "to celebrate and promote the entrepreneurial spirit of achievement across America."

Borck, whose father started the family's bakery business in 1915, became the company's president in 1959. At that time, he changed the firm's name from White Rose Bakery to Country Home Bakers and took the business in a new direction. Led by Borck, the company went from producing fresh baked goods to manufacturing frozen dough products for supermarket in-store bakeries.
