e has named Cheryl Hays director of advertising, succeeding Larry Beck, who was named director of sales development. In her new position, Hays will be responsible for the advertising budget, media, promotions, special programs, communications, traffic and creative for the company. Prior to joining Winn-Dixie, Hays was the director of advertising and electronic marketing for Randalls, Houston.

Meanwhile, in his new position, Beck will oversee the development and implementation of marketing and advertising plans to support store openings and individual-store sales increases. Besides being director of advertising, Beck served Winn-Dixie in a variety of marketing positions.

Bozzuto's Taps Former Wegman's Executives for New Positions

CHESHIRE, Conn. -- Bozzuto's, a wholesale food distributor based here, named Ron Lillis vice president, operations review, reporting directly to Mark Kindig, executive vice president of finance and chief financial officer. Bill Larsen was named director, operations review; he will report to Lillis. Both positions are newly created. Prior to joining Bozzuto's, both Lillis and Larsen worked at Wegmans Food Markets, Rochester, N.Y.

In his new position, Lillis will initially focus on projects involving finance, distribution and Bozzuto's corporate stores. Larsen will initially work on operations in the Adam's Super Food Stores group. He will also be responsible for various improvement projects, including new services implementation, and process and procedure reviews.

Penn Traffic Replaces Three Board Members

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Penn Traffic here last week said it elected three new members to its board: Richard Brennan, Mathew Glass and Richard D. Holahan Jr. All three are affiliated with Soros Fund Management, which advises funds that own about 45% of Penn Traffic's outstanding common stock. They fill vacancies created by the resignation of Gabe Nechamkin, Lief Rosenblatt and Mark Sonnino, principals of Satellite Asset Management, in connection with Satellite's recent termination of its investment advisory relationship with Soros Fund Management.
