Nudson Is Selected For Supervalu Post

, said Steve Nudson has been named president of its Southeast region here.

He succeeds Ted Crouse, who will retire on August 31 after 19 years with the distributor. Nudson was formerly president of Supervalu's New England region. Brian Evers, vice president of marketing for the region, will succeed him.

Both Nudson and Evers will report to Jeff Noddle, executive vice president of Supervalu and president and chief operating officer of its wholesale food companies division.

Ralphs Grocery Names Hall

COMPTON, Calif. -- Ralphs Grocery Co. here said Chris Hall has been named senior vice president of finance, a new position. Hall, 34, was formerly group vice president, finance, and chief accounting officer. He will be responsible for overseeing the company's finance, accounting and strategic-planning areas, and will report to John Standley, chief financial officer of Fred Meyer, Inc., Ralphs' Portland-based parent company.

Succeeding Hall with the title vice president, finance, will be Steve Mortensen, formerly director of finance and assistant controller.

In his new post, Mortensen, 37, will be responsible for Ralphs' corporate planning department, in addition to his existing duties of overseeing property accounting and general accounting. He will report to Hall. In other changes:

Lloyd Compton, 49, has been named to the new post of vice president, operational accounting, and will be responsible for the accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales audit and financial systems departments. Compton was formerly director of operations accounting. He also will report to Hall.

Felicia Thornton, 34, has been named vice president, administration, a new post in which she will be responsible for office services and industrial engineering. Thornton was formerly vice president, corporate planning and accounting; no successor has been named. She will report to Greg Mays, executive vice president.

Ahold Taps Euronova President

ZAANDAM, Netherlands -- Ahold here said Dick Boer has been named president of Euronova, the company's subsidiary in the Czech Republic. Boer, 40, succeeds Antonin Jizdny, who has left the company.

Boer previously worked for the Dutch-owned Makro chain in various international positions, including head of the company's operations in Greece.

He reports to Jan Andreae, a member of Ahold's corporate executive board responsible for European operations. Euronova operates 131 stores in the Czech Republic -- including 70 Mana supermarkets, 40 Sesam discount stores and 20 Prima mini-hypermarkets -- which combined in 1997 for sales of $240 million (U.S.), according to Ahold.

Euronova opened its newest format, Hypernova, earlier this month -- an 85,000-square-foot hypermarket with 46 checkstands and more than 60,000 products. A second Hypernova is scheduled to open in September in Brno.
