Doug Flick has rejoined the Louisville division as controller. He reports to Ron George, division president. Flick was most recently assistant controller in the Atlanta division. Flick succeeds Rafe Sanson, who has been named controller of the New Orleans division. He reports to Roy Brocato, division president.

The position in the New Orleans office was held by John Coyle, who has retired after 33 years with the company.

Sanson, a New Orleans native, joined Winn Dixie in 1986 as an accounting management trainee after graduating from Louisiana State University with a degree in accounting. Flick joined Winn Dixie's headquarters in Jacksonville, Fla., in 1985 as an internal auditor. Winn-Dixie operates 1,140 stores throughout the South. The Louisville division is comprised of 60 stores; the Louisiana division of 88 stores.

Four VPs Appointed at Cala

HAYWARD, Calif. -- Cala Co. here, the northern California division of Food 4 Less, named four executives to new posts.

Karl Wissmann was named group vice president of the company. He was vice president of administration.

Wissmann oversees administration, planning, strategy, accounting, data processing, information systems, training, engineering, maintenance, construction and security for Cala.

George Tucker was appointed vice president of Cala's six-store Foods Co. unit. He is responsible for all factors affecting the stores' operations and profitability. He most recently was general manager of Foods Co. stores.

Chris O'Leary was named vice president of sales and marketing for Cala. In addition to those responsibilities, he provides advertising support. He most recently was director of sales and marketing for the company's nine Cala Foods and 10 Bell Markets stores.

All three report to Harley DeLano, Cala president.

Daryl Zgodzay was named vice president of meat operations for the company. He reports to O'Leary. Zgodzay most recently was meat director at Food 4 Less and director of meat purchasing at Food 4 Less' southern California warehouse.

Cala Co. operates 25 supermarkets under the Cala Foods, Bell Markets and Foods Co. banners in the San Francisco Bay area.

Advisory Board Adds Latin American Post

WASHINGTON -- The Advisory Board, a private consultancy in international retail strategies, has appointed Elisa Margaona to the position of vice president of its Latin American operations.

In taking the position -- the agency's first office outside the United States -- she reports to Chairman Robert Aders. Margaona is based in Mexico City.

Aders is also a member of the Food Marketing Institute's International Advisory Board. Margaona's expertise will be called upon for Latin American matters concerning the FMI board. The FMI board is separate from the consulting agency, which was formed by Aders and his wife, Tabitha, when he retired from the FMI presidency in 1993. Margaona was most recently employed in her own private consulting business. In addition, she is a founding president of ANTAD, a Mexican food retail organization. She is also a founder of the Association of Latin American Supermarkets.
