A&P, Montvale, N.J., said last week Lou Ruggiero, president of the company's Food Emporium division, will retire after nearly 50 years in food retailing. The company said Cheryl Palmer will succeed Ruggiero as president of Food Emporium president, effective Sept. 30. Previously, Palmer was A&P senior vice president of strategic marketing.

Camellia Food Stores, Norfolk, Va., said it has named Dan Geraty president and chief operating officer. Geraty will continue to be a member of the board. Previously, he was director of new stores, Wal-Mart Supercenters. He succeeds and will continue to report to Guy Sykes, vice chairman and chief executive officer.
Food Industry Crusade Against Hunger, Washington, said Michael Donkis, president and chief executive officer, would resign his post, effective in October. Donkis has accepted a position with Endeavor, a Los Angeles-based entertainment-industry company, but will remain with FICAH on a part-time basis until a successor has been chosen. He had been in his post for eight years. A search committee has been formed to select a new president. It is headed by Robert Emmons, FICAH chairman.
