Riser Names Procurement Director
er Foods here has named Len L. Swatt director of procurement for its American Seaway Foods Wholesale division.
Swatt has responsibility for all facets of procurement in Seaway's grocery, frozens and dairy warehouses. Swatt was most recently distribution manager of Premium Beverage Packers, Reading, Pa., and prior to that he was vice president of marketing for Supervalu's Reading division in Temple, Pa.
Swatt reports to Frank D. Manetta, senior vice president of wholesale operations at Riser.
In a related development, Riser said that Joseph E. Crimaldi, senior vice president of procurement and a director of Riser since its inception in 1988, has retired from the company. He began his career with Rego Cos., one of Riser's predecessors, 27 years ago. He was also instrumental in the merger that formed Riser.
Riser Foods operates 40 supermarkets in northeast Ohio, principally under the Rini-Rego Stop-N-Shop banner, along with American Seaway Foods and the Eagle Ice Cream manufacturing plant.
Big Y Taps Grocery Director
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Big Y Foods here has named Peter M. Dudis director of grocery operations, a new position.
Previously, Dudis was assistant director of grocery sales at Big Y. He continues to manage the beverage, snacks and specialty categories but now also oversees corporate vending and corporate supply. Dudis reports to Phillip Schneider, director of grocery sales and procurement.
