Ralphs Appoints Group VP
alphs Grocery Co. here has named Kerry Hodges group vice president of produce and floral operations, a new position. Hodges was vice president of produce.
Hodges, who has been with Ralphs for 25 years, now has responsibility for the marketing and merchandising of the company's produce and floral departments. He is a member of the Southern California Produce Council, the Produce Marketing Association and the United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association.
Hodges reports to Tom Dahlen, senior vice president of marketing.
Giant Food Adds Operations VP Slot
LANDOVER, Md. -- Giant Food here has named John P. Mason vice president of produce operations, a new position.
Mason oversees all buying and merchandising for the floral and produce departments. Mason, 43, began as a cashier for the company in 1972 and joined the company's career development program a few years later.
In 1977, he was named produce manager at the store, and was named assistant store manager in 1980. The next year, Mason became a produce product supervisor. In 1987, Mason was appointed the chain's director of produce and flower merchandising, the post he held most recently.
Mason, who lives in Chantilly, Va., played a key role in the implementation of Giant's salad bars and the company's locally grown produce marketing program, said company officials in a statement.
