Riley to Leave Lund Food Holdings

dings here, parent company of Lunds and Byerly's, said last week that Dale Riley, executive vice president and chief operating officer, has decided to leave the company, effective July 30.

Russell T. Lund 3rd, president and chief executive officer, said the company will not name an immediate successor. "We want to take some time to decide whether to name a successor or to restructure the company," he told SN.

Riley, 49, who spent 28 years with Byerly's and the parent company, was Byerly's president and chief operating officer at the time it was acquired by Lund Food Holdings in 1996. His decision to leave had been contemplated, "once our integration was more fully complete and our strategic planning underway," Lund said.

Riley did not disclose his future plans.

Fossum Joins Fleming as VP

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Fleming Cos. here said Roy Fossum has joined the company as vice president of nonperishables, a new position.

Fossum will be responsible for category marketing and procurement for groceries, frozens, dairy, general merchandise, health and beauty care, and specialty items.

He was formerly senior vice president of corporate brands marketing and vice president of national grocery and beverage procurement for American Stores Co., Salt Lake City. At Fleming he will report to Dick Judd, senior vice president of supply.
